Biography

Lanette Suárez Martin concentrates her practice on representing financial institutions and services clients, with an emphasis on fair and responsible lending and servicing litigation. Lanette regularly counsels clients on compliance with fair lending laws and identifying and mitigating regulatory and litigation risk.

Lanette has represented national and community banks, businesses, non-bank mortgage lenders, loan servicers, investors, commercial and small business lenders, private mortgage insurers, and trade groups in complex litigation matters, class actions, appeals, and other disputes before federal district and circuit courts, as well as in state courts throughout the United States. Her experience includes defending actions arising under various federal and state laws, including the Fair Housing Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, and Community Reinvestment Act. She has defended fair lending claims in areas that are germane to the client's business, including in the areas of underwriting, steering, pricing, redlining, marketing, and servicing.

Lanette also defends investigations, examinations and enforcement actions brought by federal and state regulators, including the Department of Justice, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Federal Reserve Board, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.

Through her representation of industry clients, Lanette has gained extensive experience with complex electronic discovery for large document intensive cases, including spearheading loan data collections and email searches spanning vast time periods.

In addition, Lanette's fluency in Spanish is an advantage that she offers to clients, including translating and drafting legal documents in Spanish.
