Biography

Allison represents mortgage lenders and servicers, financial institutions, and secondary market investors in federal and multistate regulatory compliance, licensing, and transactional matters.

Allison helps clients comply with Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CPFB) requirements, respond to supervisory examinations, and navigate consumer lending laws such as the:

  • Truth in Lending Act

  • Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act

  • Fair Credit Reporting Act

  • SAFE Act and state licensing laws

  • Mortgage Acts and Practices Rule

  • Fair lending laws

  • UDAAP laws

Allison regularly advises on federal and state advertising compliance, loan originator compensation, structuring compliant marketing and business relationships under RESPA’s anti-kickback requirements, federal and state fee and disclosure requirements, and state licensing. She has worked extensively with reverse mortgages (both FHA’s HECM program and proprietary products). 

Prior to joining Mitchell Sandler, Allison was Associate General Counsel at a publicly traded national mortgage lender, where she provided strategic compliance advice across the company’s reverse, forward, and commercial mortgage lines of business and worked with affiliated settlement service providers of title insurance, appraisal management company (AMC) services, and offshore mortgage loan processing.

In addition to her in-house experience, Allison has represented regional and national mortgage lenders, settlement service providers, Wall Street banks, REITS, and investment firms on compliance matters relating to originating, financing and investing in mortgage loans.
